Christmas is not always the most wonderful time of the year. The constant refrain on radio and television, in shopping malls and supermarkets about the happiness of the Christmas season and the emphasis on gathering together with family and friends may remind you of what you have lost or never had. Between the needs of the world, our community, our family and our own hearts, we know what it means to experience feelings other than happiness at this time of year. There are years when we hurt or struggle at Christmas and can’t get into the festivities as others seem to be able to do.
It’s at such times that we need to make the space and take the time to acknowledge our sadness and concern. We need to know that we are not alone. For these reasons, Forest Hills UMC invites you to come on Wednesday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m. and join in sharing and hearing prayers, Scripture and music which acknowledge that God’s presence is for all, especially those who struggle – and that God’s Word comes to shine into our darkness.
Please accept this invitation to be with us – a time to move from feeling sad or lonely to experiencing the true wonder and hope of Christmas. Our doors are open to you and all who wish to come and worship at this Service of Hope and Healing for Christmas.
